October is here and games are starting to come out for us to mostly ignore. Instead we talk about, XCOM 2, PSVR, Shadow of Mordor, running, Space Engineers, GTA V, FAST Racing NEO, Theatrythm, pay-to-spray, Affordable Space Adventures, Team Fortress 2 and always more Rocket League.
Unbeknownst to us, it turns out it has been "totally average game week" here at happysalad. Nothing too terrible, nothing mind-blowing, just good-old “B-tier” games being in the same room offering a lukewarm, vaguely honest handshake of mediocrity. The middle of the road is mildly comfortable... and beige.
The "Fallout" from E3 doesn't leave us too much to “Unravel” and there isn’t much “Uncharted” news to cover. So while there are plenty of new games are on the “Horizon”, there are even more for us to “Maker” our way through right now. So let’s “Siege” the day, party all “Knight” and deliver “SOMA” Saladcast. It’s just how we “DOOM”.
Trying to organise three people to all be available for a few hours at the same can be surprisingly difficult. I totally see why personal assistants and secretaries are a thing. Here's to you.

I don't know about nature. It's alive, varied and mostly outdoors. 3 things you probably wouldn’t associate with the typical gamer. But here we are, recording a podcast OUTSIDE! Somehow we rattle through a lot of recent releases with little to no hesistancy. Maybe the slight breeze casts Haste upon our vocals?
Zac covers the indie scene once more with the Minecraft Adventure update, completing S.P.A.Z. two more times (jeez) and Blocks that Matter. Dan continues to catch up to Zac in Deus Ex: Human Revolution while Rob continues his Kinect pratfalling in front of Rise of Nightmares and Child of Eden. There’s even a little Gears of War 3, so you should have nothing left to grind... y'know... like "grinds my gears"... nevermind.
3 weeks have passed since the last cast. Who's fault is that? Well it's kinda ours. No excuse. We got lazy. To celebrate our return here's a blurb that represents the spirit of laze:

Zac talks much Eve as the drama over the Incarna patch unfolds. He also reveals the extent of hackery that has befallen the Sonic Generations demo. Potential spoilers maybe? This provides Rob with an excuse to deliver ample quantities of Sonic related discussion, as always.
Deciphering the world of Pokémon on a cup of coffee in the Abode of Unfortunate Ends is a tough task. Among Zac's thoughts of Pokémon Black/White we can’t help but be confused how about such a world could possibly work with such ignorant occupants.
Rob continues following Dan's gaming suggestions and finally starts playing Batman: Arkham Asylum.
Dan hasn't played too much but we fill the gap with more Portal 2 talk (mostly spoiler free still), the usual Minecraft and TF2 entries with a surprise return for SpaceChem.
The lounge of inexplicable peril is populated with all regular contenders. One year has past since Episode 1. Only one thing can occur... Season 2 of the SaladCast is so ON right now!
Rob expresses his hurt caused by Nintendo in the wake of the 3DS launch and hates on Mexico, Zac gets deeper into Pokémon and a few other RPGs and Dan... well Dan is back. Which is nice.
After deciding very quickly that we need to suck less, the gaming news flows forth.
Featuring Rob discussing Japan's answer to the cover shooter, Vanquish and the connection woes of Call of Duty: Black Ops. Zac drops the bomb on the similarities between Monday Night Combat and TF2, and unrealistic frontier realism MMO WURM Online. Dan continues the Rockstar patronage and goes zombie hunting in the wild west in Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare.
Lot of dates, as in years, mentioned this week too... Thought I’d have something funny to say about that. I don’t.
Driving seems to be main theme this time. We've all been playing them racing games. The Steam sales have magical properties like that.
Rob gushes about Blur, confirming its awesomeness, Dan arrives late to the Dirt 2 party and Zac.... plays Eve some more. Well he did play some Dirt too (see what I did there?).
There’s also some ranting about the 3DS before it's out, some SpaceChem and Super Meat Boy. How lucky you are!
Christmas (or the "festive season") is nearly upon us so we decide that we won't really talk about it much. Save that for next week. That'll be special, just you see!
For now Zac will take you through the first Golden Sun game for 6 years and some breakout clonage in Shatter. Rob finishes up with the metal lords of Brütal Legend, begins on Bioshock 2 and targets TF2 again. Dan gets squeezed out a little again but does drop some nuggets on Super Meat Boy, Halo Reach and Batman.
Rob still seems a bit pessimistic this week ranting off about Gran Turismo 5 again, and lamenting the state of rythm games. Zac and Dan are a little more upbeat and positive about the recent Indie sales on Steam, World in Conflict and Batman: Arkham Asylum. Brutal Legend comes up again as do the obligatory Halo, CoD and TF2 segments.
Perhaps we should have talked about Christmas a little more but that is so last year... and the year before that and... I think you see my point.
