Being as it is the end the December there's not a lot happening in the games industry. Let's take the time to reflect on the year of games as experienced by the happysalad crew whilst our stomachs reflect on the multitude of errors made in recent days.
Dwarf Fortress
Dwarf Fortress is a single-player, high fantasy simulation game in the style of old ASCII Roguelikes. You can control either a Dwarven clan attempting to build a settlement or a single adventurer in a randomly generated and persistent world complete with its own unique history.
You may criticise us and claim that we "phone it in". Well this week, just for you, Dan is actually phoning it in. And if you weren't saying that then now we know we have to adjust our half tomato shaped, mind reading antenna that's crudely attached to the studio. Thanks either way.
In this episode we talk about The Game Awards, hot new Steam releases Dwarf Fortress and Against the Storm, Splatoon 3 updates, God of War Ragnarok and some other cheesey gubbins.
In this podcast:
Zac may be under the weather but he has a 100% streak to maintain so casts through the maladies. Sony finally decides to show some of them there games so the news is dominated by that. There's also some of those games things what we have played so you can listen to us talk about those there games what you should also play. There be Psychonauts 2, Flight Simulator, Dwarf Fortress and more.
In this podcast:
It's the 300th episode (give or take) extravaganza in which we do absolutely nothing special. I guess you could celebrate the arrival of 2021's Summer 2 season? Maybe with a game? We've still got those.
In this episode there's some Gamescom news, hot new releases Psychonauts 2 and Twelve Minutes, the not yet released Factory Town and the very released Breath of the Wild.
In this podcast:
NERTS sounds like something you can catch. I hope it's not the next pandemic threat. Also in this episode, Rob finishes Horizon Zero Dawn's campaign, Zac finds another space builder thing in Avorion Dan is physically here! We've also got Rock of Ages 3, Dwarf Fortress and Lumines Remastered covered.
In this podcast:
This episode is sick. Not the radical kind but the ill kind. No, not the good ill either. Rob's sick, Zac's sick and our equipment is a bit sick. What results is a concoction of games, wind, news and coughing. We got off lightly.
In this podcast:
In this episode we set a hard deadline, a race against the clock. Can we get a podcast done before the pizza arrives or is this idea stuffed? We’re casting on the limit.
In this podcast:
If we were to describe the SaladCast team as states of matter Zac would be solid, Dan would be liquid and Rob has to be gas. That's the end of the gag. Please enjoy the episode!
In this podcast:
Everybody knows a podcast is supposed to be followed with pizza. Where's our pizza I hear the voice inside ask? The spotted tile game cheesy bread provider doesn’t seem to know. Yes I am hangry right now!
In this episode: Hellblade, another kettle meets Zac’s criticism, Super Mario Odyssey and how the moons work, audio snobbery, Splatoon 2, Factorio mods, and Dwarf Fortress shoes.
In this podcast:
You know it must be raining when your noisy gaming session is interrupted by natural white noise. Take pause from the gunfire, engines and satisfying "dings" of gaming to enjoy some proper surround sound, and then drown it in dubstep.
In this episode: Space Engineers, stuff found in boxes, Sonic Mania, stuff found in ears, Nier Automata, stuff found in pipes, Splatoon 2, stuff found in Kitchens, Dwarf Fortress and stuff found in Hyrule.
In this podcast:
After a week off for Dan to get some surgery we're back and Zac and Rob have colds. Go figure.
Plenty of news this week as the games industry comes out of hibernation featuring Rocket League, money, Peter Molyneux, legal fights, Amazon, poopy PC ports and Nintendo. Welcome back!
In this podcast:

It's a week of "things that aren’t happening". Wellness isn’t happening to Rob, kitchen perils aren’t happening to Zac and games aren’t happening to Dan at all.
In this episode: Assassin’s Creed 3, Shadow Realms, Grow Home, Phantom Dust, #IDARB, Counter Strike: Global Offensive, Guild Wars 2, Homeworld, Mass Effect, Dwarf Fortress, bull hits and bull misses.
In this podcast:
It was exhausting, but we have recovered ourselves a Dan to bring back the structure we crave. Admittedly our structure is a bit like a paper tower in the rain, yet still we crave its moist sanctuary.
After a brief recap of the recent Vita reviews Dan continues bashing his way through Skyrim, Rob gets his finishing rants on Uncharted 3 and L.A. Noire out while Zac keeps us up to date on the essential Dwarf Fortress update.
In this podcast:
This week, instead of cancelling the 50th episode of the SaladCast due to the snow stopping Dan from being present, we replaced him. Welcome to the fray DJ Kippling (a.k.a. Richard) from the MagicTheGatheringUK YouTube channel. Cross promotion y'all.
We talk the Vita this week and all the "shoulda woulda coulda" stuff after Kippers got some hands-on time, Zac investigates the Skyrim competitor in Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and Rob plays LEGO Harry Potter (no really).
