1998 was a heck of a year for video games. Everybody knows this. This was the year that the first Unreal came out, but Epic wasn't just working on 3D stuff. This 2D sequel came out in the very same year and nobody really remembers.
If you notice that you might be losing your mind does mean that you're not? Has the gaming industry noticed? Does that explain the recent gaming news?
In this episode: XBOX and EA kick the hornets nest, some picks from TGS and SONY, DOOM: The Dark Ages, Against The Storm, Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor and a return of Indiana Jones.
In this podcast:
Humans, Lizards and Beavers working together to defeat the tyranny of nature! ... and do a bit of baking. Zac puts on a poncho and tries to explain to Rob and Dan how you too can be Against The Storm.
You'll never hear the SaladCast's take on the Nintendo Direct, nor how Rob finally finished Tears of the Kingdom. Zac's solo play in Vintage Story is lost to time as are discussions on DOOM and Octohedron. A tragic loss of art.
In this podcast:
Wipeout got an entry on the N64. You could have guessed that from the title. It's pretty much Wipeout XL / 2097 but not quite. More importantly it's the third anti-gravity racing game Rob remembers playing.
Bit of a corrections column needed for this one: Sony wasn't stopping Psygnosis from doing what they wanted to do at this point in time. That all stopped with Wipeout 3 though. Wipeout 64 was indeed Psygnosis developed and not by a mysterious extra party. The tracks are modified, mirrored versions of tracks from the previous Wipeout games with new skins. It's hard to tell though.
